Consent banner, chat image fixes, and accurate docs

  • New
  • Fixed

This round is about the kit telling the truth, to visitors and to you. Analytics asks for consent where it has to, chat images work in production, and the marketing pages and docs only describe what actually ships.

A site-wide banner now appears only for visitors whose country requires consent before analytics cookies: the 27 EU countries, Norway, and the UK. There, the PostHog browser SDK does not load, and sets no cookies, until the visitor accepts. Reject keeps it off. Visitors from the United States, including California, from Switzerland, or from an unknown country see no banner. The country comes from Vercel or Cloudflare headers. A self-hosted deploy without either can set SYNTAXKIT_GEO_COUNTRY. Essential cookies such as the session and language are unchanged.

Chat images

Sending a chat message with an image could fail in production with Failed to fetch before the upload started, because the security policy blocked the composer from reading the staged file. That is fixed, with regression tests that run under production headers. Attachments now show as square previews with a remove button, and clicking an image opens a full-size lightbox.

Marketing and docs match the product

The homepage FAQ and the integrations grid only name tools the kit ships: GitHub and Google sign-in, Stripe, Polar, or Creem, six email providers, PostHog, and S3 storage. The email docs cover all six EMAIL_DELIVERY_MODE options. The privacy template lists the same providers, in English and German.

Cursor Cloud setup moved to the dashboard

The kit no longer commits .cursor/environment.json. That file overrode personal and team environments in Cursor, which blocked the dashboard's Secrets tab. You now create the Cloud Agent environment in the Cursor dashboard with bash .cursor/install.sh and bash .cursor/start.sh, both still in the repo.
