FAQ

Paddle fee questions.

How much does Paddle charge per transaction?

5% + 50¢ per checkout transaction. On a $100 sale that is $5.50, leaving you $94.50. The fee includes sales tax and VAT handling, fraud protection and payment methods like PayPal.

Does Paddle have a monthly fee?

No. Paddle has no monthly, setup or migration fees on its standard pricing. Large businesses can ask for custom pricing.

Does Paddle charge extra for international cards or PayPal?

Paddle's published pricing is all-in, with no separate surcharge for international cards or PayPal. Its payout and currency conversion costs aren't published on the pricing page.

Does Paddle work for products under $10?

Paddle asks you to contact sales for products under $10, where it uses separate small-transaction pricing. The 50¢ fixed fee alone would be 10% of a $5 sale.

What does a chargeback cost on Paddle?

20 USD, GBP or EUR (40 CAD or AUD) per chargeback, and Paddle doesn't return it if the dispute is won.

Is Paddle more expensive than Stripe?

Per sale, yes: 5% + 50¢ against Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ in the US. Paddle is a merchant of record, though, so it registers for and remits sales tax and VAT for you. Stripe's own merchant of record option adds 3.5% to its card fee.

Why is there a Paddle.com charge on my card?

Paddle resells software for thousands of companies, so their customers see Paddle on their card statement instead of the company's name. Paddle's own lookup page identifies the purchase.
