Gumroad fee questions.

How much does Gumroad take per sale?

On a direct sale, 10% + 50¢ plus card processing of 2.9% + 30¢, which Gumroad charges separately. A $49 product leaves you $41.88, an effective rate of 14.5%.

What is the Gumroad Discover fee?

30% of the sale, with processing included, for sales that come through Gumroad's Discover marketplace. The same $49 product leaves you $34.30 when it sells through Discover.

Is Gumroad free to use?

There is no monthly fee or plan. Gumroad only charges when you sell, which is why its per-sale fee is higher than the payment providers'.

Does Gumroad get cheaper at higher volume?

Yes. Once your paid sales in a calendar month reach $20,000, further direct sales that month cost 5% + 50¢ plus processing. It resets each month, and Discover stays at 30%.

Does Gumroad handle sales tax and VAT?

Yes. Gumroad has been the merchant of record since January 1, 2025, so it collects and remits sales tax and VAT. Tax is always added on top of your price.

Are there payout fees on Gumroad?

Bank payouts have no stated fee. PayPal payouts cost 2%, and instant payouts in the US cost 3%. The minimum payout is $100.

Does Gumroad refund its fee on refunds?

Gumroad returns its own fee on the refunded amount but keeps the card processing part.

Is Gumroad more expensive than Lemon Squeezy?

Yes, per sale. Lemon Squeezy starts at 5% + 50¢ and Creem at 3.9% + 40¢; on a $49 sale Creem leaves you $46.69 against Gumroad's $41.88. Gumroad's pitch is the storefront and the Discover audience, not the fee.
